Based on research under a large number of companies, this article identifies four challenges for implementing open innovation: changing the company mindset, developing the willingness to bring knowledge outside the company (not just bringing external knowledge in), build up the courage to experiment with new open innovation techniques, and adapting internal governance to open innovation.
